Rumble Strip's.

Back home in Moose Jaw SK, shortly after a young girl got killed at a school zone cross walk on south hill many years ago, the City of MJ decided to put in a series of 'rumble strips' to warn motorists that they are approaching a school zone. Where by the way, the speed is reduced to 40 KMPH, instead of the 30 KMPH that it is in Calgary.

And the point is, is that you never see a radar trap set up in a school zone in MJ, because all of the motorists are aware that they have entered a school zone.

Unlike Calgary, where the ubiquitous "Dukes of Hazard" setup is in play, in dozens of locations on a daily basis... and for what? To protect our children? I think not!

If MJ can afford rumble strips, then Calgary most certainly can. As can every other city in the country.

Please share your thoughts.

Canada Rumble Strip.

What a night's work getting this post up and running.

What it's all about is "rumble strips"... (one of a series of rough, or slightly raised strips of highway, intended to slow down the speed of vehicles.)

That being said, I passed through a little city in the middle of Saskatchewan last week, named Moose Jaw.

It is just down the road from Eyebrow, South and East of Elbow, around the corner from Snowdrift and if you've gone too far around that corner, you run into Earmuff.

If you actually hit Cowpie, then you have gone much too far and will have backtrack past Turtleford, follow the signs and you will end up at the 'Real Jewel of the Prairie."

Spa, Murals, Museums, Al Capone Tunnel Tours, 'ol fashion trolley rides, et al, awaits you.

All of that and three golf courses, more restaurants per capita than Vancouver and the friendliest, most helpful people on the planet.

(Try pulling over on the side of the highway, with your hood up in Vancouver and see how long you have to wait until someone pulls over to 'help' you. You would probably hide in your car, with the doors locked, if someone actually did! In Moose Jaw, Ma and Pa would invariably come out of the car together, posing no threat, but only to help you out of your 'predicament.'

I digress...

they also have "rumble strips" in 'some' of the school zones. 'All' of the ones, it seems, where some child has lost their life. Why the other ones don't... I am not sure.

But I am sure of this...

If Moose Juice SK can afford to "rumble strip" most of their school zones, places like Calgary AB, can soon hopefully quit treating these killing zones as a commercial enterprise as in radar/photo and seriously begin to care about the welfare of the children.

More to follow!

Much love as always to you all!
